Covid-19 pandemic prevention was actively carried out at FNGOs projects in Quang Tri
Quang Tri has confirmed 2 cases positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus since Vietnam recorded the first suspected Covid-19 case in Da Nang 14 days ago. Both patients are currently isolated and treated at the Hospital for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease in Quang Tri province. Facing the pandemic’s complicated developments, Quang Tri Steering Committee for Covid-19 pandemic prevention has directed to strengthen prevention and control measures at high risk level.
Many FNGO projects and organizations which employ nearly 1,000 workers and operate in the fields of livelihoods, humanitarianism and mine action are currently based in Quang Tri. Due to the FNGO’s diverse characteristics and wide range of activities in the province, Department of Foreign Affairs issued Decision No. 298/QD-SNgV dated March 31, 2020 on consolidating Department of Foreign Affairs Steering Committee for Covid-19 pandemic prevention in which includes the establishment of the Steering Group for Covid-19 pandemic prevention in FNGO projects.
Since its establishment, the Group has continuously gathered opinions and updated information on the pandemic prevention in FNGO projects to report to the Steering Committee. In addition to promptly updating the FNGO projects on directions from the Government and the Provincial Steering Committee, the Steering Group has timely connected and provided the FNGO projects instructions to deal with Covid-19 prevention situations at localities, especially the entry and exit of project expatriates.
Furthermore, Department of Foreign Affairs has directed Quang Tri Service Center for Foreign Affairs (a non-business unit under the Department) to directly carry out pandemic prevention measures at projects based in the Center. Under the direction of Department of Foreign Affairs, since April 1, 2020, Quang Tri Service Center for Foreign Affairs in the cooperation with 6 FNGO organizations and projects located in the Center with up to 700 employees have developed anti Covid-19 scenarios with 03 different levels to be actively implemented once pandemic happens in the province.
Immediately after learning about case 750 whose residence close to the Center, the Center requested the list and health condition of the project staff who had been to Da Nang in July 2020 to be regularly updated. The travel history of case 749 and 750 was provided to FNGO projects so that the project staff who had had close contacts could promptly report to local health authorities. The project office workers have been encouraged to frequently clean and sterilize the office and work online.
In order to further enhance the pandemic prevention proactivity, Quang Tri Service Center for Foreign Affairs had cooperated to have all the office and vehicles sprayed Chloramine-B for sterilization in the morning of August 9, 2020.
