A nearly 900kg giant projectile was relocated by MAG in Vinh Linh, Quang Tri
Being requested by the Mine Action Center of Quang Tri Province, MAG immediately sent an EOD team to deal with a 900kg projectile in Co My village, Vinh Giang commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province in the morning of August 27, 2020.

The projectile was found at 1.5m depth near the local fish pond. After being evaluated, the projectile was determined 16inch HE, 1.62m long, 40.6cm in diameter, and had not been detonated so it could be safely moved. The projectile was loaded into the truck and transferred to the Central Demolition Site in Phuong Son village, Trieu Son commune, Trieu Phong district to store and wait for demolition.

MAG has been operating in Quang Tri since 1999 and in Quang Binh since 2003, with the major funding from the Government of US, Japan and UK. MAG is currently the largest civil mine clearance organization in Vietnam with more than 700 employees.

Over the last 20 years operating in Vietnam, MAG has cleared nearly 132 million square meters of land, safely disposed of nearly 339,000 explosives, which brings the safety and socio-economic development opportunities for nearly one million Vietnamese. Along with clearance, MAG has also implemented more than 1,600 Mine Risk Education programs for more than 25,000 people from the most at-risk groups in the community to raise awareness and reduce the mine risk.
