Mrs. Nguyen Trieu Thuong - Director of Department of Foreign Affairs worked with Head of US Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in Vietnam

            In the morning of January 13, 2021, Mrs. Nguyen Trieu Thuong - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs received and worked with delegation led by Major Wei Yuan, Head Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Engineer in ODC Vietnam Office was a part of the delegation.

            ODC in Vietnam has been supporting Quang Tri province since 2008 with the first project of a primary school construction in Gio Viet commune, Gio Linh district, with a budget of 300,000 USD, then followed by the construction of Cua Tung Primary School in Vinh Linh District (2011), with a budget of 401,340 USD; Center for natural disaster prevention and mitigation in Quang Tri province - DMCC in Dong Ha (2014), with a budget of USD 662,411; Hai Son Secondary School in Hai Son Commune, Hai Lang District (2015), with a funding of 550,283 USD and Hai Que Commune Health Station in Hai Lang District, 531,606 USD.

           At the meeting, the Director of Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed ODC’s working trip in early 2021 to Quang Tri province and to the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Director provided specific information on damages and initial recovery results of Quang Tri province post disaster in 2020 as well as asked for ODC’s interest in degraded school and medical facilities construction in the coming time.
Major Wei Yuan, Head of ODC in Vietnam expressed his sincere thanks to Department of Foreign Affairs and districts (Dakrong and Trieu Phong) for the preparation and information. Under the disaster recovery assistance plan of the Pacific Command and ODC, the field trip was conducted in 02 days 13-14 January 2021 to consider the possibility of support to Quang Tri province. The mission has received the guidance of DOFA’s representatives and the close coordination from relevant agencies and authorities of Dakrong and Trieu Phong districts./.
